Description
Panellis Stipticus – Luminescent Panellus is a non-edible mushroom. It is bioluminescent along the ridges of the gills which glow in the dark. Panellus stipticus grows on deciduous trees such as birch, maple, hickory and oak. It releases enzymes that break down lignin in wood and causes white rot. Studies are underway to explore the use of these enzymes for bioremediation. As noted, do not eat these mushrooms because they are toxic.
